The leaderboard after the first and second rounds at the PGA Championship did not look like that of a major championship.

Then, all of a sudden, Scottie Scheffler rose to the top of the standings after an unbelievable back nine at Quail Hollow on Saturday.

And the chasing pack is also star-studded, with Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm ready to pounce on any potential mishaps for the world number one.

2002 PGA Championship winner Rich Beem explained on Saturday night what the LIV Golf duo will need to do in the final round to beat Scheffler.

Rich Beem tells Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm how to beat Scottie Scheffler

Scheffler (-11) has a three-shot lead over second-place Alex Noren (-8), and an even healthier advantage over DeChambeau (-5) and Rahm (-6).

It already feels like it’s Scheffler’s Wanamaker Trophy to lose, but with 18 holes to play, there could still be several more twists and turns.

Beem shared how DeChambeau and Rahm can pose a threat to the world number one on Sunday afternoon.

“Of course, there is [a chance],” he said on Sky Sports Golf. “There are no guarantees in this game whatsoever, but I would think it would take something otherworldly.

“Those two players sit five and six back, respectively. They would have to shoot a 64 at the very least, maybe even a 63, and hope Scottie does not go out and get too comfortable early in his round.

“Scottie would have to go out and stumble on holes one, two, and three, which can play very challenging. Then, yes, I think they would have a chance.

“But you have got to get Scottie out of his comfort zone, and I am not sure what golf course or what circumstances do that.”

Rich Beem is fully convinced Scottie Scheffler will win PGA Championship

While Beem respects the quality in the chasing pack, namely DeChambeau and Rahm, he’s fully convinced that Scheffler will get over the line.

He’s probably the least “vulnerable” player in the world in big moments, and the others have a huge deficit to overcome.

“I would say mostly, yes,” Beem added. “We said off-air, who do you think can bring him down? I think any player nine under or better can go ahead and chase him down. There is nobody nine under or better!

“He just does not give a lot of the chasing pack much hope, and for us watching it doesn’t seem to me there is anything that would frighten us into thinking he is maybe vulnerable going into the final round.

“I just think every round he has got continuously better and better, and I am going to lean on what I saw at Byron Nelson, he went out there and shot six under par on the front nine and gave everybody no hope.

“I expect Scottie to go out there tomorrow with the same mindset, I am going to step on the gas, and I want to get six ahead as soon as I can.”
