Scottie Scheffler has pretty much got the PGA Championship in the bag after a stunning third day but the world number one has no time to rest on his laurels.

Scheffler produced the goods in one of the most impressive rounds of golf we’ve seen for some time at a major, as he shot six-under to go to minus 11 and lead the field by three.

With many of the big names like Rory McIlroy and even Bryson DeChambeau dropping away, Scheffler will feel he has a clear run at adding a third major to his resume.

However, while many would expect Scheffler to simply call it a day after being so good, that wasn’t the case.

In fact, Scheffler has been showing everyone just why he is world number one.

To get to world number one, it takes a lot of work and a lot of effort.

Some manage it, while some get there briefly, before falling away after hitting a ceiling.

For Scottie Scheffler though, it appears he is as determined as ever to keep hold of his world number one spot and he was spotted putting in the work late into the night at Quail Hollow.

In a post shared on X by Jason Sobel, Scheffler was seeing putting the time in on the range as he prepared for one more push.

With so many players clearly having called it a day, Scheffler is leading the charge and setting an example.

Of course, there were others out there working before Scheffler, with Jordan Spieth among those spotted putting the grind in.

Scottie Scheffler will be demoralising the rest of the field at Quail Hollow

Sometimes in golf, there’s just nothing you can do about a player on the top of his game performing to a level few are capable of and right now at Quail Hollow, that’s what we’re seeing with Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler was simply sensational around Quail yesterday and even though the likes of Alex Noren and Davis Riley played really well, Scheffler is in a league of his own.

Right now, it feels inevitable that Scheffler wins a third major and with the form he’s putting together right now, it wouldn’t be beyond him to win the rest of the majors this year.
