Scottie Scheffler ended the season on a high by winning the Tour Championship and in doing so, boosted his bank balance again.

Scheffler took his PGA Tour winnings to more than $60m by winning at East Lake.

A lot has been made of the money Scheffler won as for the third year running he topped the money list by producing some of the best golf in the world.

Of course, Scheffler is very much working to win his dollars, while the ongoing LIV Tour automatically rewards players for simply signing up to the tour.

And speaking about those comparisons, PGA Tour star Billy Horschel has given his thoughts on Scheffler earning the big money and the LIV players cashing in.

Billy Horschel makes Scottie Scheffler comment when asked about LIV players

Speaking about the players who moved to LIV, Horschel admitted he held no ill feelings towards those players, albeit he conceded he plays to win trophies mainly.

Asked specifically about Scottie Scheffler ‘earning’ his $60m this year compared to those who get it anyway over on LIV, Horschel made the following comment:

“Listen it’s different. As I’ve said for two or three years now, I don’t fault any of those guys who took that financial decision and rewards to look after their family they way they did. There were some big numbers thrown out, I don’t fault them, don’t have any ill will towards them, never will,” Horschel said.

“But I want to play the game of golf because I want to win trophies and compete in them and if there’s money at the end of the rainbow, for me, that’s great.

“And fortunately enough we’ve always been financially supported on the PGA Tour and it’s got even better. So yeah, I’ve always played for trying to be remembered for winning things and achieving on the golf course.”

Horschel is one of the players who has made a good living himself off the PGA Tour and he finished inside the FedEx top 30 despite an underwhelming performance at East Lake.

Horschel has missed out on the Presidents Cup team despite his good season but going into 2025, Horschel has suggested he’s very much aiming to be on the Ryder Cup team under Keegan Bradley.

As for Scheffler earning so much by winning and the LIV players earning regardless, well, that’s another conversation entirely that both tours need to resolve.
