Bank of Utah Championship predictions
The Golfing Gazette writers have predicted the winner of the Bank of Utah Championship at Black Desert this week.
James Shearman: Michael Thorbjornsen is still chasing his first PGA Tour victory after finishing runner-up at the 2024 John Deere Classic and the 2025 Corales Puntacana Championship. He’s an exciting young player in good form, and it’s only a matter of time before he wins.
Peter Lynch: Maverick McNealy gets my shout to clinch the title this week. He’s had a fine season so far, and should have an extra bit of motivation after missing out on an American Ryder Cup spot!
Jordan Harris: Matt McCarty won this event last year. So his 60 in the final round of the Baycurrent Classic could hardly have come at a better time ahead of such a unique event on the PGA Tour.
Charlie Walker: After his disappointing omission from Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup team, expect a revitalized Maverick McNealy to come back with a point to prove. He has five top-five finishes in 2025, and I predict that he’ll get over the hump and take his second PGA Tour victory in Utah.
Jakob Barnes: Alex Noren was in decent form towards the end of the regular PGA season before a disappointing run at the Baycurrent. He’s won two on the DP World Tour recently, too, and I think he’ll emerge victorious in Utah with very few there who can match his quality on a good day.
