Xander Schauffele looks back to his brilliant best after winning the 2025 Baycurrent Classic.

It was his first win of 2025 and an emotional one at that. Schauffele said winning in Japan would be special, as his mother was raised there and his extended family was at the Yokohama Country Club to support him.

Schauffele had an incredible 2024, winning two major championships, but an injury on the back end of the year saw the American struggle throughout this season. He said he finally found his form at the BMW Championship, and after a 3-1-0 Ryder Cup, he returned to the PGA Tour with a bang.

Schauffele shot 19-under at the Baycurrent Classic to claim his 10th PGA Tour title, and took to social media to explain what the win in front of his family meant to him.

Xander Schauffele reflects to Baycurrent Classic win on social media

The Baycurrent Classic is a home tournament away from home for Schauffele, whose grandparents picked him up from the airport when he landed in Japan for the event.

He also recently became a new father shortly before the Ryder Cup, making this his first individual tournament as a dad.

Schauffele, after winning the Baycurrent Classic, took to Instagram, posting, “A truly special win over in Japan with all my extended family, and as a new dad.

“Returning to the winners’ circle feels good, and I can’t wait to continue competing. Thank you, @baycurrentclassic for hosting a world-class event, and to all the fans in Japan, thank you for your continued support.”

Schauffele’s struggles this season made for tough viewing. He was seen as the man who could challenge Scottie Scheffler after his major wins in 2024, but Schauffele was never even in contention for a victory throughout this season.

Now, it seems he’s fully recovered from his injury and is ready to attack the 2026 season. Perhaps Schauffele can compete with Scheffler and Rory McIlroy for the biggest titles in golf next season after all.

Xander Schauffele says 2025 season will be a ‘great year’

Despite his poor performances and constant struggles with his swing, Schauffele still thinks he will view 2025 as a successful season, thanks to his win in front of family in Japan.

He admitted that he’s been wrestling with doubts throughout the season, but is relieved to have taken home a trophy near the end of the season.

Schauffele said after winning the Baycurrent Classic, “I definitely had doubts. I think every player in any sport at some point in time you feel like you’re on top of the world and then you feel like, not that you’ve lost it but you feel less confident.

“I have a really good team around me, they pick me up when I’m down. You know, this is really special for me. Sooner than I thought, to be fair. I was running out of events in 2025 to sort of put my mark on it. I’m sure when I look back on 2025 at the end of my career, I’ll smile and think it was a great year.”

Despite Team USA’s Ryder Cup loss, Schauffele can hold his head high, leaving Bethpage Black as one of his country’s most reliable performers.

And now he has followed up with a victory in Japan, the confidence Schauffele brings into the 2026 PGA Tour season should be daunting for all of the sport’s top contenders. After a year’s hiatus, Schauffele could well be back.
