LIV Golf star Tyrrell Hatton endured an eventful DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth Course.
After holding a share of the lead upon the conclusion of round one, Hatton was involved in a series of incidents which drew criticism from all corners of the golfing world.
Dame Laura Davies called Hatton “daft” after he produced a moment of rage on the 10th green following a short missed putt for birdie.
Sky Sports commentator Ewen Murray labelled Hatton a “terrible influence” after he snapped his club on the 14th hole. It was a day to forget, and Paul McGinley suggested it should be a watershed moment for Hatton.
However, the Englishman appeared subdued during Sunday’s final round. Hatton even wrote a two-word message on his glove as a gentle reminder to keep his emotions in check.
Andrew Coltart highlights another Tyrrell Hatton incident

Andrew Coltart, who worked for Sky Sports during the season finale in Dubai, believes Hatton’s comments about the greens were worse than his club snapping on the 14th.
“I have a problem with him snapping his club, but I almost have more of a problem with him slagging off these greens that people have grated so hard to get into great condition for these players who are playing for millions,” Coltart told the Chipping Forecast.
“He is a very annoying player to watch. Again, we stress, he is akin to a Monty who you talk to off the course, and he is a very engaging, very personable, very good company, but on the course, he becomes this strange demon.”
Before the DP World Tour finale, Coltart said the Hatton plays better when he’s angry, although there’s no doubt the LIV man’s hot head impacted his performance at the Earth Course.
LIV Golf allow explosive outbursts
Back in April, Padraig Harrington noticed LIV Golf players swearing far more frequently than their PGA Tour counterparts at The Masters. Breakaway league players aren’t fined for outbursts or moments of rage on the course.
However, on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, players are regularly penalised for choice use of language. Clearly, Hatton is prone to a moment of madness, but playing on LIV may have reinforced his destructive behaviours.
Reckless behaviour is picked apart, particularly on the DP World Tour, and Hatton has had nowhere to hide in the aftermath of what happened in Dubai.
