We are just days away from the TGL getting underway in a new era for golf and Tiger Woods’ former coach, Hank Haney, is more than willing the new format to be a success.

The TGL will have some of the best players in the world featuring as the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and Xander Schauffele all tee it up inside the purpose built SoFi Centre.

With more than 830 weeks at world number one between the players on show, there’s enough star power to pull the viewers in.

There are, of course, those who remain sceptical about whole format while Billy Horschel has suggested some fans may not like how players interact with each other.

Still, it is yet another fresh venture for golf and golf fans to get into and according to Tiger Woods’ former coach Hank Haney, the TGL could be the next big thing in the sport.

Hank Haney shares why the TGL could be huge for golf

With so much star power involved in the TGL, it’s hard to see it being a complete failure as some are predicting.

With a TV deal in place, sponsors, and big names, the TGL has a big chance at making a real impact on the sport and bringing new eyes to the game.

And according to Hank Haney, TGL could very much be the next big ‘boom’ in golf.

Haney has spoken on his social media about the TGL a few times now and seems to be well behind the project.

And adding further credence to his opinion, Haney believes that SIM Golf as a whole is taking off, which the TGL will only help with.

What the players have said about the TGL

The players have been getting a feel for the SoFi Centre and what the TGL will be like and it’s so far, so good for the event.

Xander Schauffle has admitted to being ‘anxious’ about being mic’d up and expected to be a personality of sorts but Tiger Woods has claimed that side of the TGL is what will really make it entertaining.

In terms of the golf, Rickie Fowler has admitted it’s different to normal golf but is excited to get involved and get going after visiting the SoFi a few times.

All will be revealed on the 7th January but up to now, it’s looking like people are positive about the TGL launch.
