Xander Schauffele is one of the highest-profile names set to tee it up in the first season of the TGL, which finally starts on January 7.

It’s been a long road for tournament organisers since the innovative SoFi Centre sustained structural damage last year. A power shortage caused the dome to collapse, pushing back the start date.

Tiger Woods believes the delay was a ‘blessing in disguise’ with the overall product now better than what it would’ve been 12 months ago. Woods will start his season on January 14.

As for Schauffele, the two-time major winner will be in action in game week one as New York Golf Club take on the Bay Golf Club.

Schauffele is currently involved in a YouTube series that is documenting his off-season. In the first episode, the 31-year-old went to the SoFi Centre to test out the unique equipment.

During a brief interview, the American admitted that the thought of being mic’d up in front of a large stadium crowd made him slightly anxious.

“What I do is play golf. I am not used to being in a production or being mic’d up, and those things, so sort of anxious from that standpoint,” Schauffele said.

He also claimed that those in attendance would enjoy the experience.

“If you’re in the building, you’re going to have a really good experience and get really close to what we’re doing,” Schauffele added.

“It truly is a stadium, a green that moves, a monster screen and a pretty cool sort of turf patch we get to play off, with real grass. It’s pretty cool.”

Where can you watch the first season of the TGL?

The first season of the TGL will be aired at prime time on ESPN and ESPN+ for US-based viewers. Good news has also emerged for those in the UK.

Two weeks before the start of the league, Sky Sports confirmed it will exclusively show the TGL, with every single match shown live on Sky Sports Golf.

The UK broadcaster has secured a two-year partnership, which includes the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Coverage also extends to Sky customers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

TGL organisers, along with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy – who helped found the league – will be thrilled to land such a high-profile broadcasting agreement within weeks of the first round of matches starting.
