Smylie Kaufman has slammed one United States star who really struggled during the second day of the Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal.

It was a day to forget for Jim Furyk’s men, as the International Team won all five foursomes matches.

Sungjae Im and Hideki Matsuyama dismantled Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele in the lead match. Furthermore, Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley lost on the 18th to Si Woo Kim and Byeong Hun An.

Another defeat came in the third encounter, with Brian Harman and Max Homa beaten on the last.

Furyk’s selection of Harman has been criticised, and the lefty failed to perform alongside Homa in the alternate shot format.

The former Open winner never looked like holing a putt and failed to put any real pressure on the international duo of Jason Day and Christian Bezuidenhout.

USA fans have slammed Harman’s performance, and Kaufman is the latest to cast a damning view on the 37-year-old’s outing at Royal Montreal.

Speaking on the latest Smylie Show, Kaufman said, ” It’s Shocking for Brian, it really is. On this golf course, this should suit his game. It’s really surprising,” Kaufman said.

“He did not have the best of form coming into here. You could make a case or two for different names instead of Brian and Max.

“We will see how they do the rest of the week, but not the best start from those two. They let one get away in a match where that you and I called the pivotal match.”

Jim Furyk axes Brian Harman and Max Homa for Presidents Cup fourball matches

Furyk wasted no time in removing Harman from his plans for Saturday morning’s matches.

The lefty, along with Homa, will watch on from the sidelines as the USA look to bounce back from what was a humbling on Friday.

Per Data Golf’s strokes gained metric, Harman was the second-worst performing American during day two, just ahead of Sahith Theegala.

Homa, interestingly, was the USA’s best player in terms of strokes gained, which makes his omission somewhat peculiar.
