As the 2024 Presidents Cup nears, Jim Furyk has been told he’s made two very “weird” decisions ahead of the event at Royal Montreal Golf Club.
Furyk’s 12-man United States Team was confirmed after the Tour Championship, with the likes of Justin Thomas and Billy Horschel missing out.
Max Homa’s selection has drawn criticism, as has Furyk’s selection of Keegan Bradley, and YouTube star Peter Finch is the latest to share scepticism.
Peter Finch can’t understand Brian Harman Presidents Cup selection

Speaking on the latest edition of the Rough Cut Podcast, Finch questioned Furyk’s decision to include Brian Harman and Homa in his plans.
“You look at the US picks, and there were a few weird picks,” Finch said. “Based on form, Brian Harman, realistically, should he be getting in? Probably not.
“Max Homa, we have mentioned. Probably not. No Justin Thomas or Spieth, no LIV guys. International or US. If you look at the first five names on each team, you could make an argument it’s pretty even, but after that, if you put them head to head, you would probably say the US team’s strength in depth compared to the internationals is much deeper.”
USA Presidents Cup loss would see Jim Furyk come under fire
Given the nature of Furyk’s selections, there’s plenty of pressure on the American to continue his team’s impressive Presidents Cup form.
Furyk is also looking for redemption after suffering a crushing defeat as the captain of the Ryder Cup team in 2018.
The 54-year-old will be reliant on the likes of Homa, Harman, and Bradley to step up and demonstrate they’re worthy of a spot on what a star-studded team is.
If the worst should happen and Mike Weir’s International Team clinches victory, American fans and media will not hesitate to criticise Furyk’s management of the Presidents Cup team.
