Automatic Qualifiers

The following list shows the six players who qualified for the Presidents Cup International Team via the OGWR, alongside their appearances at the event.

The International Team is not filled with star quality like the United States, who have Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa on their side.

However, Weir’s team have a serious advantage over their opposition when it comes to experience.

Their automatic qualifiers have made a combined 23 Presidents Cup appearances, whereas the entire United States team have just 10 appearances between them – the same as Adam Scott alone.

They will need to rely on this, and other intangibles, to beat their theoretically superior rivals at the Royal Montreal Golf Club next month.

Captain’s Picks

The following list shows the six players International Team captain Mike Weir picked for the Presidents Cup, alongside their appearances at the event.

Weir had to make some tough choices in his International Team selection process, and many feel that he got them wrong.

He decided to leave 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic winner Cameron Davis off the team, even though he is higher in the OWGR than all of his picks besides Corey Conners.

Meanwhile, Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor were also snubbed, despite both being much higher in the world rankings than fellow Canadian Mackenzie Hughes.

Weir’s controversial decisions will certainly bring extra scrutiny if things do not go well, but he will be revered if his team can pull off an upset.
