The Presidents Cup is just a few weeks away now as golf fans crave their next big block of golfing action after the PGA Tour season ended.
Team USA and the International Team will go head to head in Montreal looking to put on a spectacle for the world of golf.
Of course, for the Internationals, there is a lot on the line and a real point to prove.
They have won just once since the tournament’s inception – back in 1998 – and have failed to win since.
They did come close back in 2015 only for the US to hold out by a single point and take home the trophy once again.

This year, though, there is a real feeling that the Internationals do have some of the world’s best golfers in the squad and they could well cause an upset.
But to cause that upset, captain Mike Weir is going to need some of his top performers to pull it out of the bag when it matters.
Here, then, The Golfing Gazette have picked out the THREE main stars for the International Team as they look to usurp Team USA.
Hideki Matsuyama
There isn’t anywhere else to start really other than with Japanese star Hideki Matsuyama.
The former Masters winner is the only player on the International Team who has a place inside the OWGR’s top ten right now, sitting in seventh.
The Japanese star has had a stellar year as well, winning an Olympic medal, two events on the PGA Tour, and finishing sixth in the US Open.
If the internationals are to win, then Matsuyama simply has to win his matches to set the tone.

Adam Scott
Big tournaments call for experience and they don’t come much more experienced than Adam Scott.
The 44-year-old is playing in his 11th consecutive Presidents Cup and he was part of the team that at least managed a tie with the US back in 2003.
Luckily for the Internationals this year, Scott seems to have found his form again and he was one of the players to make a late surge in the PGA Tour season and push himself into the FedEx top 30.
If Scott plays well, he might well be the anchor that Mike Weir relies on.

Tom Kim
While Team USA can look through their roster and pick out star power all over, it’s not quite as prevalent on the International side.
However, one player who the US would more than take into their ranks is the exciting, Tom Kim.
Kim is one of the top young players in the entire sport and his world ranking of 23rd is arguably a bit low for a player of his quality.

At just 22, Kim has already won three times on the PGA Tour and this will already be his second appearance in a Presidents Cup team.
Kim’s popularity and ability to embrace the team element could well bring the crowds into play and he’ll be just as crucial as anyone for Weir and his assistants.
