Scottie Scheffler might not have been able to swing a golf club since Christmas but he’s revealed the unusual training method he’s been taking part in to ensure he’s not completely off his game.

For Scottie Scheffler, being away from the golf course is the last thing he wants as he looks to build on his superb 2024 by winning even more events.

However, the world number one has missed out on both The Sentry and The American Express so far in 2025, with Scheffler initially aiming for a return at Pebble Beach in a few weeks.

Frustratingly for Scheffler and the golf world, his injury has affected his hands, meaning no actual practice has taken place.

Scheffler has been spotted in the gym, but it remains to be seen if he’s close to being able to hit again.

Still, Scheffler himself has been speaking to the media about his absence and revealed he’s been mentally preparing for his return.

Scottie Scheffler shares unusual training method ahead of PGA Tour return

Scheffler was speaking to the golf media for the first time since sustaining his hand injury and subsequently going under the knife to repair it.

And while he’s not been able to hit balls, Scheffler did admit he’s been looking over some old tournaments to keep his mind focussed on golf.

“I went back while I was sitting around kind of elevating my hand post-surgery, I was just sitting there, watched some old shots, watched some old tournaments, and I reflected a little bit,” Scheffler said.

“Not much, but I just really wanted to jog my memory and since I wasn’t able to play golf, I tried to almost train a little bit at home to remind my brain what I was feeling over certain shots, what my hands felt like on the club, stuff like that, so I wasn’t totally checking out from golf.”

The PGA Tour needs Scottie Scheffler back ASAP

Having the best players in the world not playing in events is a nightmare for the PGA Tour.

They already go without Rory McIlroy for the first few but in previous years, players like Scheffler and more have held the star power to keep things interesting.

However, we are now going into a fourth event of the season and there’s no sign of McIlroy, Scheffler, or world number two, Xander Schauffele.

Schauffele has been confirmed injured and like Scheffler, is a doubt for the AT&T at Pebble Beach in a few weeks’ time.

If the top two in the world don’t play in that, then the TOUR will start getting edgy over sponsors and other business-related issues.

Indeed, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it comes to light somewhere that the TOUR has been in the ear of Scheffler insisting he get himself right and at least declare for Pebble before Friday’s deadline.
