The PGA Tour couldn’t have dreamed of a worse start to the 2025 season with star man Scottie Scheffler injured and now world number two, Xander Schauffele, seemingly following him to the medical room.

Schauffele was among a host of names to withdraw from the American Express last week while he’d also confirmed he wouldn’t play in the Farmers Insurance Open this coming week.

However, unlike Scottie Scheffler’s confirmed injury over Christmas, there was a touch of mystery about what the actual problem with Schauffele was.

But now, it’s been revealed that Schauffele is also carrying an injury and like Scheffler, he is a doubt for the AT&T at Pebble Beach in a few weeks.

Xander Schauffele could miss Pebble Beach through injury

Unfortunately, injuries are part and parcel of all top level sport and it looks like the PGA Tour have been hit with both their top players out at the same time.

According to Golf Channel reporter Todd Lewis, Schauffele is out with a rib injury and as well as missing the TGL, he’s also a doubt for Pebble Beach.

What Scottie Scheffler has said about his own injury

With entries needing to be confirmed for the AT&T by Friday, the PGA Tour are anxiously waiting to see if Scheffler is indeed back on the mend.

Footage emerged of Scheffler back in the gym earlier but it remains to be seen if he is able to swing a golf club properly after hand surgery.

Indeed, Scheffler himself has spoken out on the injury as well and confirmed that he’s still unsure if he’ll commit.

“We should know in the next few days to a week whether I’ll play next week,” Scheffler said. “But everything’s on schedule so we’ll see.”

With Schauffele also a doubt, the field suddenly looks a lot weaker if Scheffler misses out as well.
