The Arnold Palmer Invitational concluded on Sunday with Russell Henley overtaking Collin Morikawa to win the trophy, and next up is the Players Championship.
It was an entertaining back nine at Bay Hill where Morikawa faded in the closing stages and Henley proved once again that he’s arguably the most underrated golfer around.
The 2025 PGA Tour season now really feels like it’s in full flow with The Players at TPC Sawgrass less than one week away.
Golf experts have already started to predict who will win the tournament and the latest pick is bold to say the least.

Dame Laura Davies predicts Tommy Fleetwood to win Players Championship
Four-time LPGA major winner Dame Laura Davies picked her Player Championship winner shortly after Henley lifted the Arnold Palmer Invitational trophy.
“Well, there are some obvious choices: [Scottie] Scheffler going for a three-peat, [Rory] McIlroy just nearly good,” Davies said on Sky Sports Golf.
“I’m going to go with Tommy Fleetwood. He’s striking it great as usual and he just needs a really good week on the greens.
“We know how good those greens are. It’s a bit of a heart choice but he is playing the golf, he can back it up.”
And Davies isn’t the only person who would like to see Fleetwood get over the line. The Englishman would be a popular champion for one obvious reason.

Tommy Fleetwood is the best golfer in the world without PGA Tour win
Fleetwood is by no means an underdog in the world of professional golf. He’s a seven-time DP World Tour winner, Ryder Cup star, Olympic medallist and earned over $30 million in prize money.
Despite all those achievements, the world number 10 has never won on the PGA Tour. He’s easily the best player in this unfortunate category, ahead of the likes of Ben An, Denny McCarthy and Patrick Rodgers.
Fleetwood has even finished in the top five at all four major championships:
| Major | Best Finish | Year |
| The Masters | T3 | 2024 |
| Open Championship | 2nd | 2019 |
| US Open | 2nd | 2018 |
| PGA Championship | T5 | 2022 |
So, while Davies’ prediction that Fleetwood will win the PGA Tour’s flagship event next week is bold, nobody will argue that the 34-year-old isn’t capable.
His accurate driving and world-class approach play could be the keys to success at Sawgrass as he attempts to overcome back-to-back defending champion Scottie Scheffler and the many other stars.
