Jon Rahm among Spanish icons to have won The Masters

The Masters has been dominated by home players over the years, with the likes of Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods playing key roles in that regard.

But challenging the American status quo at Augusta have been a handful of Spanish icons, including LIV Golf’s Rahm.

He clinched the green jacket in 2023, winning the tournament by four shots ahead of Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson, who are also both now LIV Golf players.

Rahm became the fourth Spanish Masters champion with his success, following in the footsteps of Seve Ballesteros, Jose Maria Olazabal and Sergio Garcia.

Garcia triumphed in 2017, with Ballesteros posting two wins in 1980 and 1983, while Olazabal won in both 1994 and 1999.

Rahm enters The Masters sitting third in the LIV Golf individual standings, with compatriot Garcia sitting in second.

But the pair will likely come up against stern PGA Tour opposition at Augusta, with the top 10 players in the world rankings all involved.
