Scottie Scheffler has clinched the third major championship win of his career after triumphing at the PGA Championship.

Bryson DeChambeau congratulated Scheffler on his victory at Quail Hollow, which comes after his two wins at The Masters.

Scheffler finished on 11-under at the PGA Championship, five shots ahead of DeChambeau, Harris English and Davis Riley.

Phil Mickelson thinks Scheffler is clearly number one in the world following his success, which was hugely helped by a stunning third round.

The American made the cut with rounds of 69 and 68, before carding a six-under 65 on Saturday, followed by a 71 on Sunday.

‘Terrifying’ Scottie Scheffler prospect emerges after PGA Championship win

Rex Hoggard and Ryan Lavner have since shared their verdicts on the fine win, with the former saying on the Golf Channel Podcast with Rex & Lav: “I don’t know he is playing his best golf.

“Statistically we are not going to look back at the 2025 PGA Championship and just marvel over his ball striking numbers or his putting numbers or his short game numbers.

“They were all very, very good, don’t get me wrong, but he has had better. He has been in situations where he has played better.”

Lavner then questioned: “Isn’t that the point? He just beat the strongest and deepest field in all of major championship golf by five shots without playing his best golf. That is a terrifying prospect for the rest of them.”

Hoggard continued: “Now we compare that to Tiger [Woods] as well. We had the conversation throughout Tiger Woods’ game that he would win with his B game or C+ game.

“The other comparison that I am going to make is the idea that I don’t know if there has been another player outside of Tiger Woods that is able to adjust on the fly.

“The front nine was scrappy at best. I could come up with a lot of other words to describe it but he did not have his best stuff.

“But to find another gear, whatever it was that clicked on the 10th tee, maybe it was something as simple as aiming a bit further right as Ted Scott suggested. That’s fine but he is the one who executed it. Perfect golf.

“It is really hard, anyone who can ever play the game let alone at the highest level, that trying to find a fix in the middle of the game is nearly impossible because your mind is probably spinning.

“Because for him to have the presence of mind, that is the part that impresses me most. Because I agree with you, I’m not sure he is playing the best golf of his career.

“I would still go back to last year when he had those historic strokes gained numbers. He is not quite there but he is still really good.”

Scheffler may not have been at his very, very best at Quail Hollow throughout the week, but he still produced a superb display.

He dealt with the tricky conditions better than most, with his superb mental game accompanying his fantastic physical game.
