Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa react on social media as Scottie Scheffler wins the PGA Championship

Scottie Scheffler is one of the most popular players in golf right now and after winning the PGA Championship, Team USA teammates Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa have both sent him messages.

Scheffler raced to a five shot win at Quail Hollow as he produced another stunning back nine to keep the field at bay.

Bryson DeChambeau tried his best to keep pace with Scheffler but in the end, could only finish in a tie for second as the world number one romped home.

In the end, Scheffler made it look easy and right now, he’s very much showing everyone – including his Ryder Cup teammates – how it’s done.

And over on social media, both Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa had messages to send to Scheffler.

Scottie Scheffler is very clearly the number one player in golf right now and even Phil Mickelson has had to wade back on his initial claim that it was indeed Joaquin Niemann.

However, while his success will be getting in the way of others and their dreams and aspirations, Scheffler is also clearly a well liked player on TOUR.

Indeed, the messages flooding in for him on social media tell that story, with Justin Thomas among those to post first and congratulate his friend.

Carrying on the good feeling, Collin Morikawa continued the good feeling, as he light-heartedly commented on Scheffler dropping the lid off the Wanamaker Trophy as he lifted it.

Clearly, the Americans are just loving having the best player in the world on their team right now and ahead of the Ryder Cup, Scheffler is going to be of paramount importance to them.

While Team Europe are strong and have the likes of Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm to call upon, Scottie Scheffler has shown in the last month that he is the absolute best of the best.

Scheffler simply oozes class but at the same time, is a calming presence which come the Ryder Cup, can be so important.

Right now, instead of a touch of jealousy, it is simply admiration from his fellow players and those on Team USA will now be looking to Scheffler to lead them to victory.

If he can do that, and regain the Ryder Cup for the USA, then his legacy is set in stone in what will have been another monumental year on the PGA Tour.
