Scottie Scheffler is the PGA Championship winner for 2025 and Bryson DeChambeau couldn’t hide his disappointment at missing out on another major chance.
DeChambeau came close at The Masters and was firmly in contention going into the final round at Quail Hollow.
However, a number of bad breaks and a bit of poor play when it mattered ensured he slipped away from contention, and with Scottie Scheffler surging on the back nine again, it was an impossible task.
For DeChambeau, it’s now a fifth top six in a row in majors and he’s definitely proving to be the man for the big ones despite his LIV Golf status.
Nevertheless, DeChambeau was still disappointed and admitted he needs to go away and work on things to see if he can get to Scheffler’s level.

Bryson DeChambeau makes telling Scottie Scheffler admission after the PGA Championship
Despite coming up short, DeChambeau did not shirk his media responsibilities and fronted up to the Sky Sports cameras post round.
And in assessing his own performance, he admitted that he needs to consider if he’s at Scheffler’s level, and if not, figure it out.
“It was a good test of golf. I wish there was a couple of things which could have gone my way a little bit more. It just seemed like it did not go my way all week and I am pretty disappointed. But this is going to burn a fire in my stomach and make me want to fight harder and get after the US Open again this year. I had this one again, it sucks,” DeChambeau admitted.
“But Scottie is playing incredible golf and hats off to him if he finishes the job. You never know but it looks like he is going to get the job done. He is an incredible golfer and something I have to look forward to figuring out if I am going to get up to his level.”
DeChambeau is proving his quality time and again when it matters but a big problem persists
Bryson DeChambeau’s form in the majors in recent years has been outstanding and another top ten at Quail Hollow only builds on that.
However, while he is consistently showing his quality, there is a trend of him missing out when in contention.

Just like the US Open in 2024, we are going to see a McIlroy and DeChambeau head to head and for the golfing fans, it’s the ideal scenario.
This is now two majors running where he’s been well in the mix and drifted away, while the same pattern has occurred over on LIV over the last few months.
Sure, DeChambeau is a winner by nature and will no doubt win more majors. But for now, instead of figuring out if he can get to Scheffler’s level, he needs to figure out how to stop throwing big chances away.
