Robert MacIntyre pushed J.J. Spaun all the way at the US Open, but ultimately fell short at Oakmont Country Club.
MacIntyre has promised to come ‘back for more’ after finishing second at the US Open, two shots behind champion Spaun.
Two-time PGA Tour winner MacIntyre dreamed of winning the US Open, with the Scot falling just short of that dream at Oakmont.
He did, however, secure his best-ever major championship result, and has climbed to a career-high 12th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
But MacIntyre did emerge as the co-leader after his final round in Pennsylvania, a position he held before Spaun sank a 64-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole.

Robert MacIntyre says if he believed he was going to win the US Open
The Scot applauded the American as he watched on from a TV in the clubhouse, having then shared his thoughts on the situation with Scottish media from the back of a car as he left the course, as per BBC Sport Scotland.
“I thought I had this one, to be honest,” he said at Oakmont. “My previous rain-delay comebacks haven’t been strong.
“But today was the day I said to myself, ‘why not, why shouldn’t it be me?’. I’ve put a lot of work into this – it’s not just luck. I just had to trust myself.
“It’s what I dreamed of as a kid, sitting in Oban, watching all the majors. And there’s no reason why I can’t win one and that’s my goal now.”
What is Robert MacIntyre’s schedule on the PGA Tour after US Open near miss?
MacIntyre was among the players who dealt with the rain delay in Pennsylvania well, with the final round of the event having been postponed for 90 minutes.
He barely put a foot wrong in his two-under 68, arguably only losing out in the end due to two superb birdies from Spaun on 17 and 18.

Still, the Scot can be hugely proud of his week at Oakmont, having dealt with all the challenges on offer better than most.
It should give him great confidence going forward, with his immediate focus turning to this week’s Travelers Championship.
TPC River Highlands in Connecticut hosts the latest PGA Tour event in the schedule, before MacIntyre looks to defend his Scottish Open title.
The Renaissance Club plays host, with MacIntyre then looking for another strong major run at The Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
