Robert MacIntyre had a US Open to remember, with the Scot finishing as runner-up to J.J. Spaun at Oakmont.
MacIntyre praised Spaun after his success at the US Open, where the American earned his maiden major championship win.
His fellow PGA Tour player MacIntyre was also seeking his first major title, but narrowly missed out on the trophy at Oakmont.
MacIntyre was tipped to win the US Open after posting the clubhouse lead, only for Spaun to finish very strongly and secure the victory.
He did, however, clinch his best major championship finish, ending his tournament on one-over as Spaun won on one-under.

And the runner-up now has a taste for success after his near miss, having started the final round seven shots off the lead.
Tagging the US Open on X, MacIntyre wrote: “Competing in the deep end of major championships is what I’ve dreamed of and yesterday was the first real taste of it. We’ll be back for more.”
His fellow European Tyrrell Hatton has also taken to social media since the conclusion of the US Open, having finished T4.
The LIV Golf ace wrote on X: “I gave it everything. Thank you Oakmont, a true US Open test. Proud of my fight and my T4 finish. Congratulations JJ on the win. See you again next year.”
Robert MacIntyre secures career best Official World Golf Ranking as J.J. Spaun enters top 10
MacIntyre, who turned pro in 2017, won both of his PGA Tour titles in 2024, emerging victorious at the Genesis Scottish Open and RBC Canadian Open.
Both wins will have given him great confidence as he competes among the elite, with the same to be said of his latest finish.

He missed out on major championship glory by just two shots, with eventual champion Spaun miraculously carding birdies on his last two holes.
But even he was impressively outdone by MacIntyre in the final round, in which the Scot carded a two-under 68.
That followed rounds of 70, 74 and 69 at Oakmont, where many of his fellow PGA Tour players struggled to even make the cut.
MacIntyre has received a huge boost with his efforts, climbing to 12th in the Official World Golf Ranking, a career best.
