Phil Mickelson has continued his major championship struggles at the PGA Championship by missing the cut at Quail Hollow.
Many LIV Golf players didn’t start the PGA Championship well, with Mickelson opening with an eight-over 79 on Thursday.
The LIV Golf icon followed that up with a second round 72 to finish on nine-over, with the cut line at Quail Hollow placed at one-over.
Mickelson won the PGA Championship in 2005 and 2021, adding to his three wins at The Masters and one at The Open Championship.
The 54-year-old is a 45-time winner on the PGA Tour, which he left to join LIV Golf in 2022 in a very high-profile switch.

But his second round at Quail Hollow was derailed by a quadruple bogey, although he did back it up with back-to-back birdies.
But the eight on the par-four 12th was hugely damaging, with Justin Ray noting on X that it was the first quadruple bogey of Mickelson’s PGA Championship career.

It remarkably arrived on his 2,117th career hole played, having made his PGA Championship debut back in 1993.
Which LIV Golf players have made the cut at the PGA Championship as Phil Mickelson struggles?
Mickelson may have had mixed feelings heading into the PGA Championship, with confidence coming from his record at the tournament.
He also occupies 15th place in the LIV Golf individual standings, with two top 10 finishes to his name this season.
At the same time, however, the six-time major champion finished 50th at LIV Golf Korea shortly before the PGA Championship.
Moreover, he missed the cut at The Masters last month, with Mickelson finishing his two rounds on five-over.
But he wasn’t the only LIV Golf player to struggle at Quail Hollow, with Dustin Johnson finishing three shots behind him on 12-over.
Brooks Koepka meanwhile joined Mickelson on nine-over as eight LIV Golf players made the cut at the PGA Championship.
