It promises to be a busy couple of weeks for the LIV Golf League as the Promotions event gets underway in Riyadh.

The winner of this weekend’s event at Riyadh Golf Club will earn a lucrative spot on LIV for the 2025 season. The top ten earn International Series exemption, which the Asian Tour sanctions. Kalle Samooja won the 2023 edition, earning himself a spot on Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC.

In addition to the Promotions event, several teams are eyeing new signings. The 4Aces have signed Thomas Pieters from the RangeGoats, and Jon Rahm wants new recruits for Legion XIII.

Current PGA Tour player Tony Finau was heavily linked with LIV before shutting down the rumours. With a marquee signing yet to come through the door, it promises to be an intriguing period ahead of the PGA Tour season, which begins in January.

With further signings imminent and a new player set to join through LIV Golf Promotions, Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed have shared advice for whoever makes the 2025 roster.

In a social media clip shared by the International Series, Reed and Johnson were asked to offer guidance for those battling to enter the Saudi-backed venture.

“My best piece of advice for a guy coming over to LIV is, hey, just trust the process. It’s obviously worked to get you do that point and, you know, no reason to change,” Reed said.

While Johnson added: “You know, just stick to what you’ve been doing. Obviously, you’ve played well to earn your spot on LIV. It’s no different, just competition’s going to be a little bit, you know, better.”

Who is playing in LIV Golf Promotions?

Four players who were relegated in 2024 will attempt to immediately earn a spot back in the league this weekend.

Branden Grace, Kalle Samooja, Scott Vincent and Kieran Vincent will all join the competition on the second day. Hudson Swafford, who was a wildcard last season, will also take part.

John Catlin, who was a reserve in 2024, is also looking to earn a permanent spot on LIV. Catlin has revealed he’s also in talks with several teams ahead of the new season.

Englishman Chris Wood, who played at the 2016 Ryder Cup, is also in the field. The 37-year-old has endured a difficult few years and is looking to resurrect his career on LIV.
