Min Woo Lee is enjoying an impressive 2025 season on the PGA Tour, and it could get even better at the Houston Open after an excellent first round.

Lee finished 20th last time out at The Players Championship – one of four top 20 finishes already this year.

The only negative was that he held the 36-hole lead alongside Akshay Bhatia at 11 under par and fell away over the weekend.

But Lee remains positive about his performance at TPC Sawgrass as he suggests that people “don’t realize” something about winning on the PGA Tour.

Min Woo Lee and Jason Day think PGA Tour fans don’t understand something

Lee has never won on the PGA Tour but he’s still only 26 years old. Not to mention, he does have three DP World Tour titles on his resume.

The Australian explained after his opening round at the Houston Open that he’s more concerned about being in contention than winning at this stage of his career.

He revealed that he and Jason Day agreed recently that contending is actually the “hard part”, rather than getting over the line.

Lee said: “It’s just a sport where you get beat down so many times, and I haven’t been in contention too much, and when you’re there, you just want to win or obviously play well.

“But that happens, you go backwards, and a lot of people have gone backwards, great players. But yeah, don’t beat yourself up and kind of just move on. You’ve got to learn from it, I think that was the big takeaway.

“I talked to Jason Day at the beginning of the week, and just the hard part is to get yourself in contention, that’s what people don’t realize, and I don’t do it that often. So, it was quite nice to be on top of the leaderboard heading into the weekend.

“As long as you keep putting yourself in those positions, hopefully, one week you can keep it up and hold the trophy. But yeah, I think [it’s been a] very solid season.”

Min Woo Lee admits what he’s ‘struggled with’ his entire professional career

Min Woo Lee is one of the most talented young players on the PGA Tour, and it seems only a matter of time before he gets his first win.

He added that “consistency” has been an issue throughout his professional career and that’s what he’s hoping to improve going forward.

“The consistency and the overall solidness is getting better. It’s something I kind of struggled with for pretty much my whole golfing pro career, so it’s quite nice to the ball kind of going where you’re looking.

“And yeah, hopefully one day I can be like Viktor [Hovland] and somehow seem bad but the ball goes straight. Try and put four rounds together and yeah, it was a learning curve Sunday and Saturday at The Players.”
