Houston Open picks
The Golfing Gazette writers have predicted who will become the next Houston Open champion:
Peter Lynch: As always, my heart says Rory McIlroy, and he’ll be disappointed if he isn’t in contention again as the Masters approaches. But I think Englishman Aaron Rai has what it takes to do the business in Houston, with momentum certainly on his side amid a fairly strong run of late.
Jordan Harris: Scottie Scheffler is done messing around and will win this week. He came so close to winning last year on a golf course which doesn’t provide many birdie chances. It would be no surprise if he’s fixed the issue which has seen so many shots head left this season – and went on to make a bit of a statement before Augusta.
James Shearman: Si Woo Kim’s career hasn’t really kicked on as some would have expected after he became the youngest ever Players Championship winner in 2017 (21 years old). The South Korean has not won on the PGA Tour since 2023, but he’s made five consecutive cuts this season and a win could be around the corner.
