TPC Sawgrass is up there with Augusta National and St Andrews as one of the most iconic golf courses on the planet.

The par-3 17th, known as the ‘Island Green’, is probably more recognisable than any other hole and has been replicated by golf clubs around the world.

Sawgrass’ popularity comes from its important role as host of the PGA Tour’s flagship event, the Players Championship.

The Golfing Gazette tells you how much it would cost for you to play there, as well as other key information.

Courses at TPC Sawgrass

There are two 18-hole golf courses at TPC Sawgrass: The Players Stadium Course and Dye’s Valley Course. Both were designed by the legendary architect, Pete Dye.

The Stadium Course, where the Players Championship takes place, is clearly the better of the two. It’s a par 72 over 7,352 yards, with the famous ‘Island Green’ hole part of an incredible final stretch.

Dye’s Valley is much shorter (6,502 yards) but it’s still an excellent course in its own right. It’s one of the best in Florida and has held multiple Korn Ferry Tour events.

How much does it cost to play at TPC Sawgrass?

The good news for golfers is that TPC Sawgrass, unlike many PGA Tour courses, is open to the public and available to play almost all year round.

You can book tee times up to 14 days in advance, unless you are planning to stay at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort and Spa, in which case you can book up to one year before.

The price includes the green fee, cart fee, forecaddie (who goes ahead to see where the balls fall) and a bag of practice balls.

Players who prefer to walk the course must pay for a caddie at $130 for one bag or $85 each for two bags. Gratuity is also recommended.

The restaurant and golf shop are open for anyone to experience and TPC Sawgrass also provide tours of the clubhouse and 17th hole.

Membership at TPC Sawgrass

There are two membership options available at TPC Sawgrass: Dye’s Valley and Social. It’s not possible to become a member at the Stadium Course.

Dye’s Valley membership includes complimentary green fees on that course and reduced prices on the Stadium Course.

Other benefits include access to the practice facilities, lower prices at the golf shop and the Performance Center and up to seven accompanied guests.

This is estimated to cost an initiation fee upwards of $50,000 and an annual fee of more than $5,000.
