Scottie Scheffler has taken the solo lead heading into Sunday at the PGA Championship after a fantastic third round.
Scheffler was anticipating different conditions at Quail Hollow on day three compared to Thursday and Friday, with the course having taken in heavy rainfall earlier in the week.
Round three of the PGA Championship was then delayed due to inclement weather, with Scheffler then storming to the top of the pile once the action got underway.
After a two-under 69 and a three-under 68 in rounds one and two respectively, the 14-time PGA Tour winner carded a third round six-under 65.
Sitting on 11-under, the world number one has a three-shot lead over Alex Noren, with Davis Riley and J.T. Poston one shot behind the Swede.

Why Scottie Scheffler was not impacted by the wind in PGA Championship round three
Also currently taking on Quail Hollow is Michael Kim, who has continued his social media updates after his four-over 75 left him T63.
Taking to X, the one-time PGA Tour winner wrote:
– Tough day for me. Hit it ok off the tee but struggled a lot with distance control, and figuring out the wind with my irons. When I made good swings, distance was off and also made some bad swings. Putting was the worst though… speed was really off on the back nine and didn’t make my short ones which I’m usually really solid with. What can ya do. Try to come back tomorrow and put a solid round to see if I can move up a bit. Still got OWGR points to play for.
– David Puig is a solid player. Hits it long and putted really well today. One of those wiry guys that can really generate speed. Hope he can get strong and stay healthy.
– Puig’s caddie Alberto I grew up playing jr golf with since I was 13 yrs old. It’s super cool seeing old friends and brought back really good memories.
– Scottie is inevitable.
A fan then commented that the wind affected a lot of iron play, except that of the world number one, asking Kim if he thinks that ‘typical’ scenario is because of better decisions or higher-quality shots.
Issuing a response, Scheffler’s fellow American said: “Easier to make good decisions when he pures every iron shot.”
Wesley Bryan doubles down on Scottie Scheffler PGA Championship prediction
Another PGA Tour player in Wesley Bryan has also been keeping close tabs on Scheffler during the second major tournament of 2025.
Bryan tipped Scheffler to win the PGA Championship after watching him carry out a hip drill in practice after his second round.
And he has now doubled down on that prediction, with Bryan writing on X: “That left hip is important Scottie. Keep thinking about it and I feel another [trophy] will be added to the mantle.”
It truly was another stunning performance from the world number one, who looks very likely to go on and win the title.
With the likes of Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm also still in contention, fans in North Carolina are set for a superb day of golf.
But they would be very foolish to bet against anything other than a maiden PGA Championship title for Scheffler and a third major win overall.
