With the LIV Golf season set to start in February, speculation is rife about who could quit the PGA Tour and join the Saudi-backed venture.

Thus far, a marquee addition is yet to materialise, with low-level signings taking the headlines. Iron Heads unveiled the signing of South Korean sensation Yubin Jang, and Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces have added Thomas Pieters to their ranks.

Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII also need a new recruit after Kieran Vincent’s relegation last season.

The highest-profile speculation has centred around six-time PGA Tour winner Tony Finau. And Golf fans are convinced the Salt Lake City native is closing in on a LIV Golf move.

Finau was heavily linked with LIV before the Hero World Challenge at Albany. Speculation was further fueled after Finau withdrew from Tiger Woods’ event.

However, the US Ryder Cup star shut down the rumours.

But, after Finau pulled out of this week’s Grant Thornton Invitational – where he was meant to play alongside Nelly Korda – golf fans believe the American’s move to LIV is back on.

“He gone,” one fan wrote. While another added: “LIV inbound.”

This fan said: “Omgggg it’s LIV isn’t it.”

Another wrote: “My sources tell me he’s DEFINITELY going to LIV.”

“Tony Finau try not to commit fraud or lie challenge: level impossible. He’s definitely going to LIV,” said this fan.

When will Tony Finau play again amid LIV Golf speculation

Finau is yet to confirm his spot at The Sentry, which is the first event of the PGA Tour season.

Once the 35-year-old commits to the event in Hawaii, the LIV Golf rumours will be put to bed for another year at the very least. The latest speculation comes 12 months after Finau was reportedly close to joining the PIF-backed venture.

If Finau misses the season opener at The Sentry, the LIV talk will ramp up. Given the level of rumour and speculation, the links could have credibility.

Finau, however, believes that when he tees it up in Maui, the LIV talk will be over. “I’m more than happy where I’m at on the PGA Tour and looking forward to 2025,” Finau told Golfweek. “When I tee it up in Maui, [the rumours] will all go away, so I don’t worry about it one bit.”
