Despite the golf season coming to an end, there’s still plenty to talk about in the sport due to LIV Golf’s off-season and the upcoming Hero World Challenge hosted by Tiger Woods.
The charity event won’t see Woods play this year but Woods has confirmed that Justin Thomas will featured instead.
However, while the Hero is something most of us will be tuning in to watch, there’s also some sub-plots as well, not least involving PGA Tour star, Tony Finau.
Finau will reportedly sign for LIV Golf for the 2025 season as he becomes the latest name to jump ship and make the move to the Saudi-backed tour.
And now, ahead of the Hero, Finau has fuelled the fire further.

Tony Finau fuels LIV Golf rumours as he makes Hero World Challenge decision
According to the popular online golf account Nuclr Golf, Finau has now been pulled from the Hero World Challenge just days from the event kicking off.
Sepp Straka will take his spot in the event, while Justin Thomas will move from exemption to a regular member of the field.
Finau’s absence will fuel the claims he is set to join LIV. The American is apparently set to join Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII team.

Of course, it would be remiss of us not to mention that this is the same sort of route that Jon Rahm himself took back in 2023.
Back in November, Rahm pulled himself out of the TGL and claimed it was due to time and commitment constraints.

| 2023 Mexico Open |
Just weeks later, Rahm confirmed he would be moving to LIV in a mega-money move.
For Finau, it looks like he’s following a similar path to that of his great friend in the sport.
Indeed, come a few weeks time, don’t be surprised to see Finau decked out in that Legion XIII gear ready to go in 2025.
