European Tour golfer Pablo Larrazabal has brought up one of the oldest debates in golf having been stung on day one of the BMW PGA Championship.
Larrazabal is among the golfers looking to plot their way around Wentworth and get themselves into contention for the weekend.
The popular Spaniard is often vocal on issues in golf and has voiced his opinion on Jon Rahm and those outstanding DP World Tour fines.
Likewise, Larrazabal is also a stickler for golfing traditions and he was far from happy with the recent actions of the US caddies at the Solheim Cup.
Now, back out on the course himself, Larrazabal has once again used his platform on social media to complain about not getting a free drop when finding a divot on the fairway yesterday.

Pablo Larrazabal wants rule change as he finds divot on day one of the BMW PGA Championship
Taking to X to voice his concerns on the issues, Larrazabal shared a picture of his ball in what he called a pitch mark and even quoted the R&A in his tweet to raise the point.
Divot rule change would bring more questions than answers
Golf is already a complex sport at times when it comes to the rules and local rulings at certain courses.
While you can appreciate what Larrazabal is saying here and you can sympathise with him, it’s simply part of the game and playing from tough lies is what makes the game of golf what it is.
The other issue is that bringing in a rule to combat this would bring yet more room for interpretation and in essence, cause delays on the course as well.
If this happened two or three times a round, then we’d have hold ups while a rules official decided what was and wasn’t a divot or pitch mark.
At the end of the day, Larrazabal just needs to deal with this and move on.
