Tyrrell Hatton made the headlines for all the wrong reasons at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
LIV Golf star Hatton enjoyed a dream start at the DP World Tour Championship, sharing the lead with Rory McIlroy after round one.
The duo both shot opening round 67s in the DP World Tour finale, which took place at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
McIlroy went on to win the DP World Tour Championship and his sixth Race to Dubai title, with Hatton finishing sixth in the last event of the season.
But it was the latter’s behaviour that drew headlines in Dubai, with the Englishman snapping his club during round three.

Eddie Pepperell calls out Tyrrell Hatton after DP World Tour Championship
Ewen Murray slammed Hatton after the club snap, with the latter having broken one of his wedges after missing the 14th green on his approach shot.
And DP World Tour winner Eddie Pepperell has continued the criticism, saying of Hatton on The Chipping Forecast: “I never personally have an issue with a player breaking a club, they can break 10 for all I care. The only person that is affecting is them. I have never had an issue with that.
“The thing which I never find particularly endearing about Tyrrell watching him play golf is his constant commentary and his swearing about the greens and his complaining. It’s just ugly, childish and petulant and it’s frankly unappealing.
“I hate to say that because he is a lovely kid, a brilliant golfer and that’s all we should be talking about with Tyrrell. He wouldn’t need to make huge changes for us to really talk about his golf but again we are talking about his behaviour and it’s not the first time.
“I think the snapping of the club isn’t the straw which broke the camel’s back for Ewen Murray because it was a benign club snap, but it’s on top of everything else which preceded that. If you are annoying Ewen Murray you have a problem and if it was me and I heard that it would make my stomach drop, because he is the voice of reason and wisdom and that’s the thing Tyrrell is lacking.”
Tyrrell Hatton swears and criticises DP World Tour Championship course
Hatton didn’t limit his DP World Tour Championship frustrations to the club snap, with the LIV Golf icon causing plenty of controversy elsewhere.
During his time at the event he criticised the 18th hole, while Hatton left Dame Laura Davies flabbergasted following his explicit language after missing a putt on the 10th.
It was a roller-coaster event for the Englishman, who will already be planning for a successful LIV Golf season after the conclusion of his 2024 DP World Tour calendar.
Hatton had “be nice” with a smiley face written on his glove ahead of his final round in Dubai, but it remains to be seen if he will follow his own advice in the near future.
A move away from such an attitude does remain unlikely at this stage, with Hatton perhaps feeling he plays better when he’s angry or frustrated.
