Tyrrell Hatton endured a moment to forget during the third round of the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

The Englishman’s brutal honesty has been on show this week in Dubai. Hatton claimed he despised the par-five 18th whilst preparing for his second approach shot during the second round.

Hatton also highlighted two issues he had with Jumeirah Golf Estates earlier in the week. Clearly, the 33-year-old isn’t overly pleased with the venue, and, fortunately, a mic wasn’t on whilst he played the 231-yard par-three 4th.

The LIV Golf man played a superb tee shot into the testing par-three. Hatton would go on to miss his short birdie attempt. The Englishman, however, let his emotions get the better of him.

Hatton smashed his shot effort at the back of the cup, only for the ball to lip out once more, resulting in a dropped shot. Fans and pundits have since had their say on the incident.

Hatton’s temperament has always split opinion among the golfing world. Andrew Coltart believes Hatton is better when angry; however, some fans hold a different opinion.

@MattewWait wrote: “Tyrrell Hatton heads gone on the 5th there.”

@Gavp77 added: “I like Tyrrell Hatton, he’s a great player, but I do think it is time he starts to grow up. Petulance gets boring very quickly.”

“Producer wasn’t sticking around for that one,” the popular fan account, Flushing it, also said.

“Camera quickly changed to avoid the explicit,” @SalopianKeeno added.

Sky Sports pundits react to Tyrrell Hatton missed putt

Sky Sports duo Nick Dougherty and Ewen Murray also reacted to Hatton’s miss in Dubai. Fortunately, the Englishman bounced back immediately with a birdie on the 5th hole.

“He’s looking to get one back after the wasted one on the last. Loss of temper, loss of a stroke. Credit to him for the response,” said Dougherty.

Murray added: “What happened on the previous hole might be just what he needed because the game’s not that easy. He was in strange form yesterday, but then you look at his statistics, and they were excellent. The straightest driver in the field and moments like this are difficult to handle.

“Always respect the game, and that’s not the first time we’ve seen him batter the ball at the hole from that distance.”

Given Hatton’s demeanour and ability to bounce back, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him compete during Sunday’s latter stages of the DP World Tour Championship.
