Anyone who’s watched a bit of golf in recent years will know that a rant from Tyrrell Hatton can be one of the most entertaining aspects of any big tournament and over in Dubai today, he’s been at it again.

Hatton is well in contention to win the DP World Tour Championship but like with most of his rounds, he’s always finding something to grumble about.

Hatton has already criticised the fairways out in Dubai this week and after coming home in his second round at three under par and eight under overall, Hatton wasn’t overly happy with how things went.

Indeed, his frustrations threatened to boil over at one point as he prepared his second shot on 18.

What Tyrrell Hatton was caught saying about the 18th at the DP World Tour Championship

Hatton was stood over his ball for his second on 18 and clearly felt his tee-shot warranted a shorter approach shot.

But the Englishman was not happy, and instead was picked up on the mics lamenting the situation and hole in general.

‘I despise everything about this hole. Having to hit 9iron, after hitting a good tee-shot, shows how bad this is. It’s just so ridiculous. Everything about this, I just despise. A truly awful golf hole,” Hatton said.

Interestingly, the whole was actually designed by none other than LIV Golf supremo, Greg Norman.

Despite being right in the mix to win, the passionate Hatton spoke to the Sky reporting team afterwards and admitted to being annoyed.

“Not feeling very comfortable. Every shot felt like a bit of a struggle. Three under is a pretty acceptable score all things considered but naturally you want to be better so it’s fair to say I am pretty frustrated,” Hatton added.

“I am taking the positives from the two days where I don’t feel like I have played the kind of golf I am capable of and we’re one shot off the lead going into the weekend, so hopefully I can find something and hit it a little bit better. That will make this weekend more exciting for me. I will go out there tomorrow and give it my best as I have done the last two days and hope something clicks.”

In fairness to Hatton, golf YouTube star Peter Finch did back him up, giving his own less than friendly take on the hole after playing the course himself previously.

With both Hatton and Rory McIlroy in contention, we could be set for a LIV v PGA showdown to close out the season.
