Englishman Daniel Brown is firmly in contention after the second day of the Andalucia Masters at Sotogrande.
Brown carded a nine-under 63 on day one and backed up his impressive performance with a two-under 70 on Friday.
Brown carded three late birdies to close the gap on Jorge Campillo. The Spaniard is currently the pacesetter at 15 under after shooting 64 and 65.
Nevertheless, Brown is in an excellent position to challenge for his first DP World Tour win since 2023.
Daniel Brown shocked by winds at Andalucia Masters

Speaking after his second round, Brown admitted the blustery conditions somewhat caught him off guard.
“It was good today, considering how windy it was out there. I wasn’t expecting it to be this windy, and it was certainly tricky out there,” Brown explained.
“I knew the pins were going to be a lot tougher today, and I think the scores reflect that. It was just a case of being patient today, and although I dropped a couple of shots coming in, I’m pleased overall.
You have to assess where the good misses are, and you don’t want to short-side yourself with a tricky chip downwind or downhill into a tucked pin. It’s important to play smart, and I feel really good ahead of the weekend. My game is comfortable, and I’m swinging it nicely out there.”
Stacked leaderboard emerges at the Andalucia Masters
A stacked leaderboard has emerged just below Brown and Campillo, and another thrilling DP World Tour finale could well be in store.
LIV Golf star Jon Rahm is eight under after shooting a six-under 66. Entertaining Spaniard Angel Hidalgo is on the same number and looking for his second win on home soil after beating Rahm at the Spanish Open.
As for Brown, the Englishman will be desperate to compete over the weekend and end his season on a high. The 30-year-old hit the headlines after leading The Open at Royal Troon for significant periods back in July.
Brown is currently 55th in the Race to Dubai standings and needs a top-ten finish to land a spot in the season-ending finale at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
