Chris Gotterup and Wyndham Clark played alongside one another on day one of the 3M Open on Thursday.
Gotterup is on fire right now, and posted an opening round of eight-under par 63 at the 3M Open, while Clark was four shots worse off.
Interestingly, Gotterup was in the same group as Clark for the final round of The Scottish Open two weeks ago, with the 26-year-old going on to win the tournament.
Gotterup’s incredible form has seen him tipped for a Ryder Cup spot, and as things stand, Keegan Bradley would be crazy to leave him out.
His first round at TPC Twin Cities on Thursday really was well-crafted, featuring six birdies, an eagle and no bogeys.
But was playing alongside Clark a good thing for Gotterup?
Chris Gotterup shares what it was like to play with Wyndham Clark at the 3M Open
Clark is a much-maligned figure on the PGA Tour right now, due to multiple cases of poor behaviour recently. There was the controversy that he was involved in at Oakmont during the US Open.

And just one month prior to that, Clark was forced to apologise at the PGA Championship after hurling his driver into the advertising hoardings.
However, Gotterup had nothing but nice things to say about the 2023 US Open champion.
The Scottish Open champion responded when asked how he’s finding being a star attraction on the PGA Tour.
He said: “Yeah, it’s definitely been different. It helps to be playing with Wyndham and Adam.“
He was then asked if he found it difficult to adjust to the American style setup, having just spent two weeks playing on links courses.
Gotterup explained how he tried to learn from watching Clark and his other playing partner Adam Scott.
He said: “Yeah, definitely a little bit of an adjustment with how soft it was too with all the rain yesterday. I feel like I did a good job of it. And you’re just trying to pay attention, I was watching Adam’s shots and watching Wyndham’s shots, seeing how they’re reacting, just trying to take as much information in as I can, but I feel like I did a good job of keeping it together.“
Gotterup keeps pace with the low scoring at the 3M Open
Adam Svensson leads the 3M Open after day one following his scintillating round of 11-under par 60 at TPC Twin Cities.
The scoring was incredibly low on Thursday at the 3M Open, with even-par not even inside the top-100.
The 7,431-yard layout was rendered pretty much defenceless.
With the soft conditions, the players fired at the pins all day long.
The average score from the 156-man field was just under 69, and that just goes to show how gettable TPC Twin Cities was on Thursday.
It was great to see Max Homa back in form at the 3M Open, as the 34-year-old American fired a really solid round of five-under par 66.
However, Gotterup is the main man in form right now, and if anyone beats him this week, they could well be holding aloft the 3M Open trophy come Sunday evening.
