Chris Gotterup’s form over the last two weeks has been completely life-changing for him.

Gotterup won The Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club where he pocketed a cool $1.575 million, and then his third-place finish at The Open saw him take home a further $1.128 million.

That means that the 26-year-old American has pocketed around $2.7 million from his two-week trip to the UK.

Not bad work if you can get it!

Before entering the final round at The Scottish Open, Gotterup said he was embracing the idea of playing alongside Rory McIlroy in the final group.

That goes to show just how comfortable he is at the elite level of the game.

And with the Ryder Cup just two months away, there have been calls for the man from Maryland to be included in Keegan Bradley‘s team for the showdown with Europe at Bethpage Black.

Incredibly, Gotterup has actually been tipped to replace Patrick Cantlay in the Ryder Cup team.

The 26-year-old was asked about the Ryder Cup after his final round at The Open on Sunday.

Gotterup was asked by a reporter how he feels about his name being mooted for a spot on the team at Bethpage.

He said: I guess good. I haven’t thought about it at all. I mean, it really wasn’t ever on my radar. I obviously hoped to play well, and it would be a miracle. Now I mean, I have no idea. Northeast is my home, and we’ll see what happens.

He was then asked by a reporter from Denmark about his Danish heritage.

Gotterup said: My dad’s got good Danish. I’ve got zero. I’ve been to Denmark, though, I can say that.

My dad’s mom and dad were born there. They had a house there forever. They got rid of it a couple years ago, but we would go over there once or twice. They spoke Danish in my dad’s house. That’s about all I got. I don’t have much other than that.

It’s cool when you have the Hojgaards and those guys, and like my last name has the slash through it, so they notice that. It’s just kind of funny to talk to them a little bit about it.

The American was asked about his feelings on Denmark.

He said: I loved it. I haven’t been in the last eight, ten years. I’d like to go back now that I’m somewhat older and experience it for what it is. We went to Tivoli, and then we went to Copenhagen too. It’s a great place.

Finally, Gotterup was asked the all important question: Who will you root for at the Ryder Cup if you don’t make the team.

He didn’t need longer than a second before answering emphatically: USA.

Have these last two weeks been nothing more than a hot streak for Gotterup? Or is he the real deal? Only time will tell in that regard.
