Chris Gotterup will be among the American players looking to impress Keegan Bradley as the countdown to the Ryder Cup continues.
Brian Harman and Harris English excited Bradley at The Open, with the pair having both been in the top 10 heading into the final round.
American Ryder Cup captain Bradley wasn’t far behind, but it was their compatriot Scottie Scheffler who eventually emerged victorious in Northern Ireland.
Also impressing was Gotterup, who clinched his second career PGA Tour win at the Scottish Open last week, and has just finished third at The Open.
Gotterup loved playing with Rory McIlroy as he triumphed at The Renaissance Club for his first success since the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic, which arrived just before another superb display at Royal Portrush.

Dan Rapaport suggests Chris Gotterup could replace PGA Tour winner at the Ryder Cup
Bradley will be hugely impressed by Gotterup, whose chances of a Ryder Cup spot have just been discussed by Dan Rapaport.
He said on Dan on Golf: “Some of the guys who we talked about being absolute locks to be on the Ryder Cup and there are two who jump to mind, one of them is Collin Morikawa and one of them is Patrick Cantlay.
“I still think Collin is a lock. I think Collin has earned it with his two major wins and he has had two seconds this year.
“He is going through a bit of a rough patch but I think of Collin in a different category than I think of Cantlay. I am officially demoting Cantlay away from being a lock on the Ryder Cup team.
“He finished tied for 36th at The Masters, he finished right in the middle of the pack, and making the cut at The Masters is not really an accomplishment when you have all the amateurs and the past champions.
“He has missed the cut in the next three majors. I know he has been solid, he has been an ATM once again in the non-majors and the signature events, but you can’t keep laying eggs in big tournaments and expect us just to not care.
“And Chris Gotterup, if you look at his results recently, he has the win at the Genesis Scottish Open, he has been trending so far this summer and he has this bit of a swagger about him.
“He turns 26 tomorrow, he plays a big boy brand of golf, his driver is his biggest weapon and he’s from New Jersey.
“I feel like the New York fans would adopt him as one of their own and he would bring a bit of energy to that team.
“He has everything to play for now in the FedEx Cup playoffs. He is making a run at the right time and Cantlay really has not had a good time.”
Where are Patrick Cantlay and Chris Gotterup in US Ryder Cup qualification?
Gotterup and Cantlay could not have experienced more contrasting weeks at The Open at Royal Portrush.
The former took solo third at the major as he finished on 12-under, just one shot behind English in second and five behind the champion.

Cantlay meanwhile missed the cut, with his three-over not good enough to make the weekend in Northern Ireland.
But he certainly wasn’t the only American to struggle, with Patrick Reed, Morikawa and Brooks Koepka all missing the cut as well.
Bradley won’t be too impressed by such players as the Ryder Cup approaches, with Cantlay set to be in real danger of missing out at Bethpage Black.
Before The Open, Cantlay was labelled the best player without a major, with his drought having now continued this season.
