Scottie Scheffler is now chasing a third major championship and a third Masters title at Augusta National, where he is off to a fine start.
Scheffler has been tipped for Masters success, with the world number one winning the tournament in 2022 and 2024.
American star Scheffler was compared to a ‘handyman’ before The Masters, which is now underway at Augusta, with the defending champion carding a four-under 68 in round one.
For rounds one and two, Scheffler has been paired with fellow American Justin Thomas and Spanish amateur Jose Luis Ballester.
A third Masters win would level the 13-time PGA Tour winner with many iconic players, including Phil Mickelson and Gary Player.

Brandel Chamblee analyses ‘bizarre’ Scottie Scheffler technique
It is Jack Nicklaus who leads the way for most Masters wins with six, followed by the five of Tiger Woods and the four of Arnold Palmer.
And Brandel Chamblee has now referenced a handful of greats in his latest analysis of Scheffler, saying on The Skip Bayless Show: “I will give you a piece of data.

“There is a statistic on the PGA Tour that I look at a lot. Not many people refer to it but I look at it a lot. It is called distance from the edge of the fairway.
“The people that generally lead distance from the edge of the fairway are predictably the shortest of hitters. They are the guys who swing the club head 104 miles per hour or 109 miles per hour.
“Scottie Scheffler swings the club at 120mph. And last year he led the PGA Tour in distance from the edge of the fairway, meaning he had the smallest miss on tour, swinging at 120mph.

“He is the furthest thing away from the stereotypical bomber and at the same time, he looks like if you just look at his feet, a drunk at a driving range.
“His feet are going everywhere, they are spinning and jumping. They are such incongruent actions. The golf ball and the feet don’t match up!
“Our thinking has changed a little bit. When I grew up it was about footwork. There was so much talk about proper footwork.

“Of course, nobody had more elegant footwork than Ben Hogan. Bobby Jones did get up on his toes at impact, but Hogan’s footwork was immaculate and so was Jack Nicklaus’s and so was Tom Watson’s.
“So I am watching all these people with beautiful footwork but beginning with Tiger Woods, you are like what is going on here? Why is Tiger Woods flying off the ground?
“They created something called force plates. So they would put these force plates down and what they found out is the way to hit the ball the longest through impact is to get off the ground.
“So what is amazing is that Scottie Scheffler has all of these techniques to hit it as far as he can in terms of jumping off the ground, and yet he hits is straighter than anybody in the game in terms of his miss. It is bizarre.”
Scottie Scheffler’s 2024 PGA Tour distance from edge of fairway stats
Scheffler did indeed lead distance from the edge of the fairway table last time out, posting an average of 18′ 10″.
Russell Henley finished second on the PGA Tour in 2024 in that regard with a figure of 19′ 3″, followed by Collin Morikawa in third with 19′ 11″.
