Billy Horschel has got himself into contention at Wentworth going into the weekend as he looks to win the second BMW PGA Championship of his career.

Horschel is one of the big names from stateside to make the trip over this year and despite struggling with injury and missing last week’s Irish Open, the American is playing nicely so far.

Horschel admitted yesterday that he’s barely been able to swing a golf club recently but on current evidence, it’s not impacting him too much.

However, while for us onlookers it seems like Horschel is doing just fine, out on course, it seems like it’s quite the opposite for the 37-year-old.

Billy Horschel makes honest admission about his golf swing after round two of the BMW PGA

Speaking to the media after carding his hard-earned three under second round, Horschel admitted he’s not exactly sure where his shots are going to end up right now.

“It was a grind again. I’m not swinging it very good, so I’m not really sure what shot is going to come out,” Horschel said.

“You know, it’s sort of a guess and hit-and-hope at times. I grinded it out. Battled. Made some putts. The putter has been working nice this week.

“So I just need to go figure out a swing that’s going to be a little bit more predictable the next two days.”

Weekend could be tough for Horschel

With any injury in golf, the longer you stay in a tournament, the harder it can get.

We’ve seen with Tiger Woods how he seems to really struggle from round two and beyond whenever he does play and Horschel will be hoping for better fortunes at Wentworth.

For Horschel, this is very much a tournament he can win but right now, he just needs his body to hold up.

His comments here are interesting given he appears to be just fine out there and just shows the reality of being a professional golfer and that sometimes, we all need a bit of luck.
