Tiger Woods won the Masters Tournament five times and produced so many special moments at Augusta National along the way.
Unfortunately, Woods’ recent Achilles rupture means that he won’t compete for the Green Jacket this year, but he’ll still get his fair share of coverage.
Eight-time PGA Tour winner Billy Horschel is the latest to reflect on Woods’ outstanding performances at the Masters, with the event just two weeks away.
Horschel described an excellent shot Woods once played as “one of the greatest” in the tournament’s long history.

Billy Horschel praises one of Tiger Woods’ iconic Masters moments
Horschel has made nine Masters appearances in his career so he knows all about the challenges of Augusta.
With that in mind, he recently revealed that he did not “appreciate” Woods’ legendary chip-in on the 16th hole at the 2005 Masters until he played the course himself.
“Listen, Tiger is one of the biggest role models for me. Chris [DiMarco] is a [Florida] Gator, so I was pulling for him. I wanted both guys to win, and I was going to be happy if one guy won and I was also going to be disappointed if one guy lost.
“That shot was unreal. I didn’t have as much appreciation for the shot until I went there in 2014 for my first Augusta, my first Masters.
“I went back there and looked at the shot and saw the hole location, and I was like, ‘gosh!’ To hit this shot under the pressure that he’s feeling on the 70th hole of the Masters… and not only hit an unbelievable shot but to pull it off.
“Listen, he wasn’t trying to hole it. He was probably trying to get it within three, four or five feet of the hole to make a putt. For it to go in the hole, to just drip in there. One of the greatest shots in Masters history by far.”

What is Billy Horschel’s Masters record?
Horschel made his Masters debut in 2014 and, surprisingly, it’s his second-best finish out of nine attempts to win the Green Jacket until now.
After missing the cut the following year, the 38-year-old finished in the top 20 at the 2016 Masters when Englishman Danny Willett won.
| 2014 | 2015 | 2016 | 2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | |
| Masters finish | T37 | CUT | T17 | CUT | T56 | T38 | T50 | 43 | 52 |
Horschel made five consecutive cuts between 2019 and 2023 before missing the event in 2024 after an underwhelming season prior.
He will be in the field at the 2025 Masters, and if he plays anything like he did at the Valspar Championship and the TGL final, he could be in contention.
