Phil Mickelson is not one who is afraid to cause a bit of a stir on social media with some of his comments about current events within the game of golf.
While Phil Mickelson spent much of his career cultivating a certain image of himself, it appears that he is much happier to speak his mind since his move to LIV Golf. Of course, the way the six-time major champion’s move to LIV was handled damaged his reputation beyond repair in the eyes of many.
So some may have been a little nervous about the idea of Lefty reacting to the final of TGL.

The first season of TGL is in the books after Atlanta Drive beat New York in the final this week, with Billy Horschel proving to be the star of the show over the first two matches.
Phil Mickelson issues his verdict on season one of TGL
The league’s co-founder Tiger Woods was amongst those to send a message to the winners on X…
Journalist Dan Rapaport reacted to the final by labelling the inaugural year of TGL a ‘huge success’. He noted that he had enjoyed the league a lot more than he thought he would have done, and suggested that it was a similar story for many others.
And that prompted Mickelson to issue his own verdict on social media in response to Rapaport…
Future LIV Golf team mooted for TGL
Following Mickelson’s response, Rapaport himself then suggested that TGL should look to open the door to a hybrid team consisting of LIV Golf and YouTube stars, with the reporter mentioning Mickelson, Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka and Grant Horvat.
That would certainly create more interest in TGL. Any opportunities to watch PGA Tour and LIV Golf players face off feel like a bigger deal these days.
And even when they feature in tournaments together, they are not facing off in a head-to-head style match. So TGL could have an extremely unique role in the golfing landscape moving forward.
It would also be fascinating to see more of the biggest names in the game embrace the TGL format. So while it looks unlikely at this stage while TGL is connected to the PGA Tour, there certainly should be scope for some exciting team changes in the future.
