There was plenty to admire about the season-ending DP World Tour Championship over in Dubai this week but despite Rory McIlroy winning in style, the on-course antics of some of his fellow pros has been called into question.

The man at the centre of the drama has been Tyrrell Hatton.

Hatton lost his cool on a number of occasions through the four days and Hatton was even labelled a ‘terrible influence‘ by the Sky commentary team yesterday.

Indeed, Dame Laura Davies even criticised Hatton, insisting the Englishman was getting to the point of looking ‘daft’, while golf fans have also had enough of Hatton as well, telling him to grow up.

Still, while Hatton is in the headlines for the wrong reasons, it’s not just him who is catching the eye with some bad behaviour.

Matt Wallace follows Tyrrell Hatton with shocking moment at the DP World Tour Championship

Fellow English golfer Matt Wallace is hoping to get into the Ryder Cup team in 2025 but looking at his actions in Dubai this weekend, he might have made a bad impression.

Wallace was actually in contention to win at one point and played some nice golf to finish eight under par and finish his season solidly.

However, Wallace was also caught getting himself into a bit of trouble as well as he was captured slamming his iron into the fairway to dig up a chunk of turf, before walking off with his caddie without repairing the damage.

Naturally, golf fans were not overly impressed with Wallace’s behaviour either and social media was full of comments hitting out at the Ryder Cup hopeful.

One fan branded the Wallace’s antics as ‘disgraceful’.

While another fan suggested players need to start controlling themselves better.

@finley_rufc5 called both Hatton and Wallace a disgrace and suggested sanctions.

“Him & Hatton are a disgrace, they need to be sanctioned cos it’s a terrible look for the sport”

While @davidricha27721 labelled Wallace as disrespectful.

“So disrespectful. Being angry and doing what he did is ok. Not repairing the damage is so inconsiderate…”

Hatton and Wallace will be under the eye of Ryder Cup chiefs

While we all know how good Tyrrell Hatton and Matt Wallace can be, this sort of behaviour is just not a good look and it seems like people are getting sick of it.

Frustrations can boil over in any sport but with so much criticism this weekend in particular, it feels like the eyes of the golf world are watching now.

For Hatton and Wallace, both hoping to get into Luke Donald’s Ryder Cup team, this sort of behaviour will be part of any decisions.

Passion is all well and good but you have to control it and in a Ryder Cup environment, Donald needs players he can rely on fully to do the business.
