Matt Wallace finally got over the line this weekend as he became the European Masters champion.
Wallace had to dig deep and he holed a fine birdie putt on the playoff hole to win out in the end after seeing his lead eaten into over the weekend.
The Englishman has now scored some valuable points in his quest towards getting on the European team for the next Ryder Cup.
Wallace admitted this weekend that he is out to impress Luke Donald, landing some DP World Tour points in a big event will do just nicely.
Of course, getting to Bethpage is the dream for most European golfers.
And after getting over the line today, Wallace has admitted that he is doing all he can to get on Team Europe.

Matt Wallace explains his push to be on Team Europe for the 2025 Ryder Cup
Speaking after winning The European Masters in a playoff earlier today, Wallace admitted that his sole focus is on playing in the Ryder Cup in 2025.
“There was a lot of things going on, golfing wise, that I was feeling like I was not able to get anything out of my game.
“I needed something like the change in the Ryder Cup points list to really give me a focus because I feel like I’ve just been travelling around the world chasing my tail a bit,” Wallace said.
“I think my whole team have seen a huge difference in me emotionally and mentally, where I’m able to focus on something bigger than myself a little bit. And that is the Ryder Cup. It’s given me an energy I don’t think I’ve ever had.
“I’m going to do everything I can to get on that team and every single week now, hopefully it’s going to be like this.”
With the points system changing a bit for this year, Wallace will face a tough fight on his hands to make the team.
Luke Donald will have six captain’s picks so Wallace will probably need to do more on the DP Tour, and then pick up valuable points on the PGA Tour as well.
But it seems like he’s all in on the idea and over the next 12 months, we could well a real push from Wallace to play the best golf of his life and make the team.
