Xander Schauffele enjoyed a phenomenal 2024 season, with his efforts falling just short of Scottie Scheffler.

Schauffele doesn’t think he’s entered his prime, which is perhaps a worrying thought for his rivals on the course.

The American took his career PGA Tour titles tally to nine with two wins in 2024, which just happened to come at the PGA Championship and The Open Championship.

Scheffler won PGA Tour Player of the Year, but Schauffele really wasn’t far behind his compatriot in terms of his achievements this season.

Both players will already be focusing on more silverware to start the 2025 PGA Tour season, with the pair set to take on The Sentry in Hawaii.

Xander Schauffele talks through his range session to improve at golf

Schauffele is behind only Scheffler in the world golf rankings, with four-time major champion Rory McIlroy in third.

All three will undoubtedly have their own special ways of preparing for tournaments on the range, with Schauffele’s now coming to light.

The PGA Tour has teased an upcoming exclusive programme involving the American, with the snippet involving Schauffele talking through his range sessions.

“I rarely go to the range just to swing a club,” he said. “I’m definitely working on something. I’d say general warm up you always start with low clubs, kind of get in the swing of things.

“Kind of turn it both ways a little bit. A little left-to-right, a little right-to-left, and then you can slowly advance through the bag.

“Be on a range that’s not too hard to sort of put the blinders on and really try to replicate the feeling you have now when you’re in a tournament. Obviously you’re going to be a little bit more amped up and high-strung.

“This is my eighth or ninth season, and it’s gone by just like all the veterans told me, it goes by extremely fast. I take two, three weeks off away from my clubs, and I still have this burning and itch to go see my trainer.

“I think the offseason is really important to prove that to yourself, or to see where you’re at mentally, because I’m sure at some point in my life I’m going to wake up and not want to go work out, not want to go hit balls for three hours, but I’m definitely not taking for granted.”

What did Xander Schauffele achieve in 2024?

Along with clinching his first two major championship titles, Schauffele narrowly missed out on three other PGA Tour trophies.

He finished as runner-up at The Players, the Wells Fargo Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Championship, along with third place at The American Express.

A total of 15 top 10 finishes and 20 top 25 finishes were secured, with the world number two making 22 of 22 cuts.

Schauffele also helped the US Team win another Presidents Cup, with his four points the joint-most with Patrick Cantlay and Collin Morikawa.

He has, of course, now set the bar very high for 2025, although plenty of motivation should come from wanting to topple Scheffler.
