Almost all professional golfers would trade entire careers to enjoy the kind of success Xander Schauffele did during the 2024 season.

Two major championship victories cemented Schauffele’s status as one of the game’s elite players. Heading into 2025, he has been backed to complete the career grand slam. Given his consistency, it’s a matter of time before he dons a green jacket and wins the US Open.

The standout performance of the 31-year-old’s season came during the final round of The Open Championship. Schauffele’s Sunday performance at Royal Troon was arguably the best golf produced by any player over the past 12 months.

Perhaps worryingly for the American’s closest competitors, he believes the best is yet to come.

Speaking to Golf.Com, Schauffele was asked whether he’s entered his prime years yet.

“I should be a little bit more professional about it, but the kid in me is learning quickly that I am getting older now,” he said.

“I feel like I haven’t entered my prime yet, but I feel older, no doubt.”

Now that Schauffele has broken his major championship duck, he’s arguably Scottie Scheffler’s biggest threat heading into the new PGA Tour season.

When is Xander Schauffele playing next?

Schauffele’s next outing will come at the PGA Tour’s season-opener in Hawaii. The Sentry promises to attract a strong field with world number one Scheffler also competing.

The San Diego-born star will then almost certainly tee it up at Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open before playing the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

After the introduction of eight Signature Events in 2024, it wouldn’t be surprising if the game’s top players adjusted their schedules in 2025.

With the four-month major championship stretch clearly the priority, looking to peak for The Masters and remain fresh will be vital. Therefore, Schauffele taking more frequent breaks throughout the season wouldn’t come as a surprise.
