Who is Xander Schauffele? An in-depth look at the life of the two-time major winner

Xander Schauffele is one of many American players at the peak of world golf right now after winning two major championships in 2024.

Schauffele made his first appearance on the PGA Tour back in 2017 and needed just three weeks to record his first win, at the Greenbrier Classic. He also won the Tour Championship in his first year.

Since then, Schauffele has had a brilliant career, with over 10 professional victories, including the Scottish Open and HSBC Champions on the DP World Tour.

It’s safe to say that Schauffele has had quite the career so far. The Golfing Gazette takes a closer look at his success on the course and his life outside golf.

Alexander Victor Schauffele was born on October 25, 1993, in San Diego, California. Schauffele is 5 feet 10 inches tall, the same height as Rory McIlroy.

2024 was a memorable year for Xander Schauffele as his two major championship wins saw him leapfrog Rory McIlroy into second place in the world rankings.

A less impressive 2025 season has now dropped him to fourth behind McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and Russell Henley.

It’s hard to gauge a true ‘net worth’ for Xander Schauffele, but he has made a huge amount from prize money since turning pro.

The PGA Tour website says that he has won more than $60 million. This does not take into account any external endorsements.

After several near misses, 2024 was the year Xander Schauffele won his first and second major championships: the PGA Championship and The Open.

Overall, he has nine PGA Tour wins and another two on the DP World Tour, including the Scottish Open. Schauffele is also an Olympic gold medallist, having won in Tokyo in 2020.

He has previously come close at the Masters, finishing second in 2019, while he also finished third at the US Open the same year.

Xander Schauffele is very much one of the quiet and understated players on the PGA Tour, and he has been happily married to his wife, Maya, since 2021. The couple met at college.

Xander Schauffele is from a diverse background, with his mother, Ping-Yi Chen, of Japanese descent and his father, Stefan Schauffele, having roots in Germany and France.

Schauffele has four legal nationalities thanks to his parents.
