Jon Rahm continues to impress on LIV Golf, with his high-profile move from the PGA Tour now well in the past.

Rahm left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf in December 2023, with the Spaniard winning the individual title in his first season on the Saudi-backed tour.

He was one of 12 LIV Golf players to have taken on The Masters earlier this month, and one of seven to make the cut at Augusta National.

Rahm congratulated Rory McIlroy on his victory at The Masters, with the Spanish star finishing T14 as the Northern Irishman won via a playoff.

The former quickly moved on to LIV Golf Mexico City, finishing fourth as Joaquin Niemann emerged victorious.

Jon Rahm’s thoughts on the PGA Tour 10 months before joining LIV Golf

According to recent comments from Rahm, LIV Golf doesn’t have a slow play issue like the PGA Tour does.

He did, however, speak highly of the PGA Tour back in February 2023, having been asked where he stands on the state of it.

Speaking 10 months before he joined LIV Golf, Rahm said on the Fore Play Podcast Plus: “It is good, they are making changes that needed to be made.

“Sometimes you need a bit of a push. I have been asked many times, I don’t think LIV is necessarily a bad thing.

“You are getting a better product out of it, and this year is a bit of a bridged year into the changes that might come next year.

“You are going to get, it’s already happening, the best players in the world playing together way more often which is what we all wanted and what everyone watching on TV wants.

“We want to beat the best and you want to watch the best compete. That is already happening and I think it’s great.

“I am not going to get too into the prize money, it is what is, I have been blessed to do what I do and I make plenty of money already.

“But obviously doubling it, great, wonderful, that is great for all of us. I think they are on the right track. I just hope this gives them right and we end up with a much better product, not only for us but for the fans.

“The PGA Tour fan base basically needs to grow a little bit and I think especially in the younger generations, that is what needs to get a bit better.”

Jon Rahm wrongly suggests best players are competing against each other more often

Put simply, despite Rahm’s suggestion, the best players in world golf are not definitely competing against each other more regularly.

And that hasn’t been good for fans of the PGA Tour, LIV Golf or golf in general, with a merger still yet to be confirmed.

Talks of bringing the game together have been ongoing for some time, but the top players have only really come together at major tournaments.

That was apparent at The Masters, with the Ryder Cup also providing an opportunity for fans to see the biggest names go head to head.
