Scottie Scheffler and Robert MacIntyre are going head-to-head in the race for the BMW Championship at Caves Valley this week.

Scheffler is the world number one by quite some distance, and his golf is the benchmark which MacIntyre is trying to match on a consistent basis.

Back at The Open in July, MacIntyre offered seriously high words of praise for Scheffler, describing him as

The 29-year-old from Dallas, Texas, is highly respected by his peers, and that is usually the most important barometer for players on the PGA Tour.

Perhaps the biggest sign of Scheffler’s dominance is the fact he has more bogey-free rounds on the PGA Tour than anyone else since the 2021 season.

The four-time major champion is someone who MacIntyre aspires to. However, what does Scheffler think of the Scot’s game?

What Scottie Scheffler said about Robert MacIntyre after the 2024 PGA Tour season

While the American and the Scot are going head-to-head in Baltimore this week, they have played with each other on numerous occasions in the past.

And at the Hero World Challenge at the end of last year, Scheffler commented on MacIntyre’s first season on the PGA Tour back in December 2024.

“Yeah, watching him win the Scottish Open was pretty cool. That was pretty fun for all of us to watch,” Scheffler said.

“Getting to watch him win his home championship was really cool. You saw the emotion, and Bob’s such a tremendous guy that it’s fun to see him have that success. You know, I just always appreciate seeing guys succeed that put in the work and Bob’s a guy that I see out here practicing and doing the right things.”

“I think he took care of some stuff last year personally by going home, taking a break and making sure he’s good mentally to come back out and play. Stuff like that, I think, is really important. I think Bob’s done a really good job of managing his life at home and managing his success out here as well, he’s done a really good job.”

That was quite the endorsement from Scheffler, and MacIntyre must have loved hearing those words from the world number one.

MacIntyre has proven this week at the BMW Championship that when he’s on form, he’s more than good enough to compete with Scheffler.

And that in itself will give him huge confidence for the rest of the season and beyond.
