LIV Golf are desperately trying to add more proven winners to their ranks from the PGA Tour this winter.
Back in 2022, LIV Golf managed to tempt numerous big-name stars to jump ship from the PGA Tour, but their recruitment strategy has clearly changed since then.
LIV were keen to sign PGA Tour duo Si Woo Kim and Sungjae Im, but both of those deals appear to be off the table now.
Meanwhile, LIV Golf star Brooks Koepka is apparently eyeing up a PGA Tour return, so everything is very much up in the air right now.
What PGA Tour players do you believe LIV Golf can realistically sign before the 2026 season?
One thing’s for sure, LIV are on the ropes, with the PGA Tour continuing to thrive, so some big-name signings will definitely be required, if the Saudi-backed outfit are to avoid falling further behind their rivals.
But what players could LIV realistically sign before the start of the 2026 season? The options are dwindling by all accounts…
Three PGA Tour players who LIV Golf can realistically sign
The powers that be over at LIV could be forgiven for feeling a touch downhearted right now, after apparently receiving knock-backs from South Korean duo Si Woo Jim and Sungjae Im.
However, the best way for the LIV hierarchy to lift the spirits among their players and fans will be to make one or two statement signings as soon as possible.
Xander Schauffele
Two-time major champion Xander Schauffele should be LIV’s number one target this winter.
He’s the number four ranked golfer in the world and is obviously capable of beating anybody when he’s on top form.
And here’s the exciting twist for LIV Golf fans – the one main reason why he didn’t join LIV years ago, according to his father at least, was the fact that they Saudi-backed league could not offer world ranking points.
“LIV could have doubled that figure ($150 million) and the answer would have still been ‘no’,“ he said.
“The lack of world ranking points and being potentially frozen out of the major championships wasn’t worth it.“
While prising Schauffele away from the PGA Tour may not be easy, he’d definitely be a realistic option for LIV.

However, it’s clear to see that they will have to obtain world ranking points first, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of signing the 2024 PGA and Open champion.
Wyndham Clark
2023 US Open champion Wyndham Clark has had a really tough time of things over the past 12 months or so.
The 32-year-old was involved in a multitude of controversial incidents throughout the 2025 season, and he managed to record only two top-10 finishes in 24 PGA Tour events played.
Back in June, Clark damaged the Oakmont lockers during the US Open and that wasn’t the first time that his poor temperament got the better of him.
During the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in May, Clark hurled his driver towards the galleries into an advertising board.
Something just wasn’t quite right with Clark throughout the 2025 season. His game regressed badly and he appeared to be very unhappy out on the golf course. Perhaps a move to LIV could be just what he needs to spark his career back into life.
LIV Golf pursuing proven PGA Tour winners rather than superstars
The key for LIV Golf during the current off-season will be to prove that they are still actually capable of making some big-name signings.
What is the main reason Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm have struggled since joining LIV Golf?
And the next man on our list would be absolutely ideal for the Saudi-backed golf league.
Jason Day
One of the most popular figures on the PGA Tour, Jason Day has been nowhere near his best for quite some time now.
The 38-year-old Australian failed to kick on after his 2015 PGA Championship victory like many expected him to.
Last season was one of his poorest years on the PGA Tour with no wins and only four top-10 finishes in 17 events played.
Day’s biggest problem over the past five years or so has been maintaining peak fitness, with persistent injury problems wreaking havoc with his career.
And that is exactly why LIV might just have a genuine chance of signing the Australian this winter.
The guarantee of an up-front signing-on fee may well appeal to Day, with uncertainty surrounding his long-term future in the game.
Day’s worldwide popularity and his deal with Malbon could be a game-changer for LIV Golf due to the brand’s popularity among the younger generation of fans.
While Schauffele, Clark and Day may not be the very biggest names in the game, they all carry huge appeal.
With four major championship victories between them, they have proven track records of getting the job done in the very biggest events as well.
At the very least, LIV Golf should be holding tentative conversations with the three players’ agents during the off-season.
