Xander Schauffele and Scottie Scheffler have been the standout PGA Tour stars in 2024, and many are split on who has had a better season.
Patrick Cantlay believes Scheffler’s season is better, whereas Viktor Hovland claimed he would rather have Xander Schauffele’s double-major winning record.
Golf commentator Smylie Kaufman also suggested that many pros would prefer Schauffele’s season purely because of his performances in the majors.
Schauffele has since been asked to compare his campaign to Scheffler’s.
Xander Schauffele asked about Scottie Scheffler’s 2024 PGA Tour record

During his press duties ahead of the BMW Championship at Castle Pines Golf Club, Schauffele spoke about his and Scheffler’s records.
“I’ve won two times, and he’s won seven. We both have a lot of top 10s. That’s kind of how I’m drawing it up. I know that’s how you guys draw it up,” said Schauffele.
Schauffele, however, did concede that Scheffler has put together an exceptional year and that the world number one is the man to catch.
“But for me, as a competitor, I just have a lot of respect for him,” Schauffele added. “It was cool to get to know him and Meredith a little bit more at the Olympics, and even Teddy, too.
“He’s been playing unbelievable golf. I feel like we’re all just chasing him. I’ve done probably the best job of getting the closest to him, but it’s still very far away. Just a lot of credit to him and his team for putting together an exceptional year.”
FedEx Cup win could see Xander Schauffele top Scottie Scheffler’s year
The FedEx Cup has now taken centre stage as the world’s best players jostle for position ahead of the Tour Championship, which gets underway at East Lake next week.
Despite Scheffler’s remarkable 2024 thus far, there’s a strong argument that whoever takes home the lucrative FedEx Cup title will have had a better season.
And given Schauffele’s form at East Lake, the two-time major winner stands an excellent chance of giving his bank account a significant boost.
Schauffele won the Tour Championship in 2017 and has nearly always performed well in Atlanta. Scheffler will need to produce his best golf of 2024 if he’s to finally end his FedEx Cup hoodoo and increase his season earnings to over $60 million.
